LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF…

JUST A CREATIVE GIRL FROM DETROIT…..

My name is Ashley Pennington and I am the creator and designer behind Lauder & Littlefield. The company is comprised of the two streets I grew up on in Detroit, Michigan. My Grandmother on Lauder and Great-Grandmother on Littlefield. Their homes were consistently stylish, filled with colorful furniture, art and an abundance of plants. Although these spaces were visually stunning, the plastic covered sofas, plastic carpet runners, perfectly vacuumed carpet lines and “off limit” living rooms weren’t accessible to me as a child. Always having a passion for all things art and design, I vowed to create spaces that could be equally beautiful and functional.

After 15 years in various career fields, from healthcare, hospitality and retail, I landed in a Phoenix design school. The first course I attended was taught by a experienced interior designer who immediately told the class, “If you think you can design affordably and make a living, then this isn’t the career for you.” She went on to explain her statement in greater detail (which had many valid economic points), but after two semesters, I realized design school wasn’t for me AT ALL. Design can be a balance of affordable, high end, DIY and vintage finds. My design esthetic focuses on helping you find that balance with a mix of modern, boho, traditional and midcentury-modern. My work has garnered the attention of Apartment Therapy, West Elm, CB2, Article and many more.
